Wyoming Will See Another Total Eclipse Next Month

Hot on the heels of the solar eclipse in August, Wyoming residents will get to witness a lunar eclipse on January 31, 2018. 

The celestial celebration will begin with a penumbral eclipse, when the earth's shadow passes over the moon, at 3:51 a.m. By 4:48 a.m., the actual eclipse will commence and the moon will start turning red.

The total lunar eclipse will occur at 5:51 a.m. and continue until 7:07 a.m. The maximum eclipse, during which the moon will be closest to the horizon, will take place at 6:29 a.m, offering the best view in the northwest sky. The duration of the entire eclipse will be just over 3 hours and 30 minutes.

The last lunar eclipse seen in Wyoming was a partial eclipse in February of 2017. Another total lunar eclipse will be visible in Wyoming on January 20, 2019.
