Over the weekend I saw that we had those Marshmallow Peeps and that we had mini boxes of Rice Krispies so I thought it'd be fun if my daughter and I tried to make my favorite snack, Rice Krispies Treats, using peeps instead of regular marshmallows. If you wanted to try to make it yourself, I'd suggest the sample size first to see if you'd like it. Here's the recipe:

Since the standard recipe calls for 6 cups of Rice Krispies, 3 tablespoons of butter and a package of marshmallows (about 40 marshmallows), I did the 1/6 sized version and I'm glad I did. When you sink your teeth into it the flavor is all there, but once you start chewing on it for a few moments the marshmallow turns hard and almost completely unchewable, almost cement-like. I didn't get video of the day after when I tried another bite. If you let them sit for a while you really get that essence of Peeps with the sweet sugar flavor, but were even harder and more brick-like to attempt eating. Try this if you want but don't expect much. I don't even think I'd let them sit for any amount of time - just dive right in after mixing and eat them warm may be your best bet.

Have you tried any variation of the classic Rice Krispies Treats? I'd love to hear about'em. Comment below.
