A tornado is on the ground east of Bar Nunn and headed for Antelope Hills, the National Weather Service in Riverton said.

IF YOU ARE NEAR THIS AREA, TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY.

FLYING DEBRIS, LARGE HAIL IS POSSIBLE.

The tornado was seen at 6:40 p.m. near Bar Nunn. The tornado was moving at 60 mph.

Ping pong ball-size hail and flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter.

Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely, too.

The tornado was expected to reach Antelope Hills about 6:45 p.m., and is expected to reach Teapot Rock about 6:55 p.m.

This includes Interstate 25 between mile markers 190 and 234.

Follow these instructions to take cover:

Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

  • Avoid windows.
  • If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
  • Motorists should NOT take shelter under highway overpasses.
  • If you cannot safely drive away from the tornado, as a last resort, either park your vehicle and stay put, or abandon your vehicle and lie down in a low lying area and protect yourself from flying debris.

Meanwhile, a new severe thunderstorm was seen near Hole In The Wall, about 18 miles south of Kaycee, and moving toward Kaycee

Earlier this evening, sirens sounded in Natrona County.

At 6:18 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located seven miles north of
Edness K. Wilkins State Park, which is 12 miles northeast of Casper.

That storm was moving north at 50 mph.

The National Weather Service warned the storm may contain ping pong ball-size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

It also warns people and animals outdoors will be injured.

Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northeastern Natrona County.

building.
