Snownado's happen when the wind swirls and picks up snow

Wyoming is not known for its tornados, but that does not mean we don't get our fair share.

When news channels began to air footage of the tornado-ravaged communities in Western Kentucky, Lyndsay LaPointe and her husband did what most of did - they shook their heads, mourned for the lives lost, and wished that they could do something to help.

A couple of guys in Alabama may have driven right through a tornado.

Just before 3:20 p.m., a storm chaser reported seeing the tornado eight miles east of Guernsey.

The storm continued to track toward Midwest and Edgerton.

I think we can all agree that us Wyoming people have a unique way of responding to things. That definitely includes this cowboy who got a little too excited about seeing a tornado in front of his home. Make that WAY too excited about the twister he sees.

We have had a crazy summer this year as far as weather goes, from tornados to crazy lightning storms over the cowboy state. Thankfully we never had anything like this happen during our fun summer storms.

There was a tornado near Gillette, Wyoming a couple weeks ago. This didn't scare a turkey mom who sheltered her chicks from the storm and won the internet for her bravery.

There have been a lot of tornadoes this year but there is a monster one that hit Cheyenne and it really did leave quite the impression as it worked it's way across the town and terrified everyone who was in it's path.

Things are prettier in Wyoming and that includes tornadoes. This video of a twister near Moorcroft proves it.
