I saw something this morning that said that almost 2% of all people are psychopaths. Doing a little research, I couldn't find anybody who agreed with this, but I did come across the top professions that have the most psychopaths.

Before we get to the list, we need to find out what the definition of a psychopath is. According to Theweek.com:

Psychopathy is a personality disorder that has been variously described as characterized by shallow emotions (in particular reduced fear), stress tolerance, lacking empathy, coldheartedness, lacking guilt, egocentricity, superficial character, manipulativeness, irresponsibility, impulsivity, and antisocial behaviors such as parasitic lifestyle and criminality.

Does reading that make you think of anybody in particular? If so, they may work in one of the following professions:

1. CEO

I can see the draw here, as a CEO tends to have tons of power, money, and control of their surroundings. They also tend to be above the law.

2. Lawyer

Again, I can see the draw, as most lawyers tend to put themselves above others...depending on how they approach their jobs. I doubt the average public defender is psycho, as they tend to help people, make less money, and get virtually no respect from others in their field.

3. Media (TV/Radio)

Really?!?!? This make me want to stab someone...

I will admit, though, I've seen a bunch of "winners" come and go throughout my 13 years here. This one actually makes a lot sense....

4. Salesperson

I guess the fact that you have to be almost soulless when you become a professional salesperson makes this one legit. Lacking guilt and compassion is something most salespeople have in common.

5. Surgeon

Now this one is tougher for me to see. I get the fact that most surgeons are egotistical, but they also have people's lives in their hands on a daily basis. If your patients are dying, you're not gonna be in the business for too long...
