Watch This Punk Band With Down Syndrome Kill It [VIDEO]
There's a Finnish punk band that's gaining some steam in Europe. The band - Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät - is a four-piece ensemble that boasts some hard lyrics, great licks, and killer beats.
And all of the members have mental disabilities.
According to their band website:
Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (Pertti Kurikka’s Name Day) is a punk band that was formed in 2009 in a culture workshop arranged by Lyhty, a nonprofit organization. Lyhty provides housing and education services as well as workshops for adults with intellectual disabilities. Pertti Kurikka, the band’s guitarist and front man, writes the lyrics with vocalist Kari Aalto and composes the music. The other two members of the band are bassist Sami Helle and drummer Toni Välitalo.
While it's easy for some to make fun of punk as genre in general, these rock stars actually make the music sound good. While they have yet to hit the states, they do have plenty of videos available, as well as a Facebook page. Check out the video below, then see the slew of other videos on YouTube
