The heavy, wet snow that fell overnight has forced school officials to cancel classes for Friday, and authorities are urging people to avoid any unnecessary travel.

Natrona County School District officials have cancelled classes today, and there will be no classes at Casper College. Converse County schools are in session, but buses are only running in Glenrock and Rolling Hills, not in the outlying areas.

Because of the early season snow, the snow is downing hundreds of trees and tree limbs throughout the area. This has caused numerous power outages and created hazards for drivers, with downed power lines along with branches, limbs and trees in some roadways.

Natrona County Emergency managers are urging people to avoid any unnecessary travel, and only call 911 in the event of an emergency.
