Buford, Wyoming. Population: 1. Don Sammons, 60, lives in the ultimate small town. He’s the only resident! Sammons left Los Angeles in 1980 with his wife and they bought the tiny hamlet as a way to escape their busy lifestyle. There were seven people living there at the time, but they all eventually moved away by the mid-1990s. Then, Sammons wife passed away 15 years ago and his son, now 26, moved to Colorado three years ago, leaving Sammons to run a gas station and convenience store all by himself. His town is about 8,000-feet up a cold mountain, but he says in the summer time he gets about 1,000 visitors a day. “After I close I'm the only guy for miles around. And I like it that way,” he said.
