NIC Fest Weekend Kicks Off In Casper
One of Casper's most popular summer events is set to kick off Friday in Casper for three days of art and fun. NIC Fest is now in it's thirteenth year and "transforms downtown Casper with fantastic visual artists, musical performances, and great food and drink," according to the Nicolaysen Art Museum website.
Dana Volney with the NIC says the free event is a way to celebrate art and culture in our community with artists from around the country selling their original work in the big white tents. "We jury the art part of it, and so we want to make sure that quality artists are coming, and that really it's an experience that you don't probably get year-round here in Casper, because these are traveling artists," she says. "There's beautiful watercolors, ceramics, jewelry, leatherwork, it's pretty awesome".
You'll also find live music, activities for kids and families including the "Kid Zone", community booths, and food and drink.
Organizers say the three-day NIC Fest draws some 10,000 visitors to downtown Casper and this year, the event will coincide with the opening weekend of the College National Finals Rodeo, attracting visitors from around the country.
