Yellowstone National Park officials say the girl was in a group of roughly 50 people when the incident happened. According to a news release, the group had been standing within 10 feet of the bison for at least 20 minutes.

The unidentified girl's parents took her to the Old Faithful Lodge where medical personnel checked her out. She was then taken to the Old Faithful Clinic where she was later released.

Park officials remind Yellowstone visitors that the animals there are wild and to stay at least 25 feet away from large animals and even farther away from predators like wolves and bears.

No citations have been issued. The incident is under investigation.
