Position: blocker

Favorite Target Zone: Everywhere

Likes: Spending quiet time with my lab and my boyfriend, laughing and playing derby.

Dislikes: Drama. I try to keep my life as drama free as possible. Life is too short to deal with drama and drama people.

Injuries: The usual bruises and bruised knees. My favorite was the LARGE hematoma on my hip that I had to have drained twice and then went to the Jason Laird for a session which finally got it to heal. I had a bruise from my bun cheek to my knee from it. That was beautiful. HA HA! Love padded gym floors. The whole reason I wear padded shorts. And now a pulled Achilles tendon from a rolled ankle. I think this has been the hardest injury to deal with. Actually made me stop skating for a few practices.

Why Roller Derby? Why not? It is a great way to stay young and in shape despite the injuries. Plus when you get a really good hit in and see a girl fly off the track it is a great adrenaline rush and a way to work out the drama that has occurred in your life. I do it mostly to stay in shape. I am finally able to fit into clothes I haven’t in years. This sport pushes you to better yourself.

Words of Wisdom: Don’t let someone tell you are too old or too heavy to play. It is a sport for everyone regardless of shape, size or age. I am one of the older ones on the team and one of the bigger girls. If you have drive and desire to do it then do it. We are here to help and keep you motivated to keep striving for your goals. Just persevere and don’t give up. If I can do it then just about anyone can.
