Casper's own A'Salt Creek Roller Girls kick off their season tomorrow in what should be a fantastic return to the track. While taking a very deserved 4 month sabbatical to heal up and recruit, the Madams of Mayhem will hit the track with renewed vigor and unleash some pent-up aggression...on each other! This bout has special rules, and you'll be able to determine the outcome! Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, and are available at the WAC east side, Sonic Rainbow, Kim's Closet east side location, Nate's Flowers, and at our studios, 150 N. Nichols.

As we get ready for another hard-hitting season, we'll spend this week re-acquainting you with some of your favorites, and introducing you to some fresh meet. Today, we take a look at Luce Wire

Derby Name: Luce Wire

Number: 4160 v

Real Name: Lucy "Elly" Lineweber

Profession: Electrician

Origin of your Derby name: Not only does the name hint at my profession and my name, it also implies that I am crazy which I like.

How Long Have you Been Skating?: I have skated since I was 5 or so, but I never had a reason to become skilled until now.

Why Derby?: I've always been a tomboy who had trouble fitting in with other ladies. I always wanted to play Red Rover at my birthday parties. When I saw my first derby bout last April, it felt like a part of me I didn't know was missing suddenly popped into place. I knew right then that I wanted to be a part of it.

What positive aspect has derby brought to your life: It has helped me to find a group of women that I can truly relate to. It has also taught me some humility in the true sense of the word. At the first couple of fresh meat practices, there seemed to be an insurmountable skills gap between me and the regular players. I had to be okay with the little improvements I made over a long period of time instead of knowing it all right away. Then after a few months I also had give myself credit for the abilities I had mastered. I tend to not give myself as much credit as I deserve. It has also helped in my balance and coordination.

I can't leave the house without....? My big bulky black purse

Likes: adventure, cheesy action movies, date nights with my husband, movies with subtitles, books on tape, and walking my dog

Dislikes: cleaning, gossip, working in temp. below zero, sitting around all day, and arguments

What are your non-derby hobbies/activities/hidden talents? Long walks with my best friend, drawing, learning, origami, and chillin' with the nieces and nephews.

Favorite Quote/Saying: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" Sigmund Freud - when confronted by someone about the 20 or so cigars he smoked a day.
