Imagine living in the same place for FIFTY YEARS and then being evicted.

The company that owns her building, Urban Green Investments, has bought a bunch of apartment buildings in San Francisco and has been evicting tenants by using California's Ellis Act.

The Ellis Act basically states that landlords can evict tenants if they are getting out of the rental business. Urban Green Investments is evicting tenants in many of their buildings, then turning around and selling the buildings for a profit.

Can't really blame them for making a profit off the building, but it's kind of a crappy method of doing so.

And 98-year-old Mary Phillips isn't going down without a fight. Her lawyers are fighting the decision and trying to get it reversed so she can stay in her apartment that she's called home for five decades.
