The reports from the farthest from the epicenter were from Bridger, Mont., and Fort Collins, Colo., according to the U.S.G.S.
The independent earthquake reporting site, Earthquake-Report.com, received comments from people in Lovell, Ten Sleep, Worland, Greybull, Shell and Cody.
These are some of them:
Lovell -- "Was seated quietly on a bed on the second story... Was also felt by other family on the first story. The house seemed to (sway) in response to movement from underneath, and, since we've no prior experience with earthquakes, it was somewhat shocking when it felt inherently different from the common experience of a heavy vehicle passing in front of the house."
Worland -- "I was sitting in a 26' travel trailer. The trailer began to rock and sway, I thought it was the wind at first. I checked outside and the wind was not blowing. The swaying lasted 15-20 seconds."
Greybull -- "It was only for maybe 2 seconds and at first I wasn't sure what I was feeling but my house shook. I looked at a lamp that I have and it was shaking and all of my animals freaked out."
Ten Sleep -- "Thought snow was sliding off the roof, then whole house shook 5-10 seconds. Confused the hell out of me and the dog..."
Shell -- "Two neighbors a few yards over the fence felt it and called us. We live at the base of the Big Horn Mts.We personally did not feel it."
Cody -- "I was sitting on the sofa and felt light vibrations. Little less than the clothes washer spinning out in the basement, I was on the ground level."
