Casper police arrested a woman over the weekend after she allegedly stabbed her husband in the hand during an argument.

Cody Janay Joy, 30, was booked on a domestic battery charge.

Charging papers say three officers responded to the Casper Village apartments at about 1 p.m. Friday after a child called 911 and said Joy had stabbed the victim in the hand.

Once on scene, an officer spoke with the victim who reportedly said Joy, his girlfriend, stabbed with with a long, silver object similar to a knife.

The officer noted the victim's hand was wrapped in a t-shirt. The victim said Joy took off and was probably headed to another city.

Court documents say the man's wound was no longer bleeding and didn't seem to need more than a few stitches.

The victim reportedly said he had been dating Joy for over seven years and have a child together. He lived with Joy in the apartment since October.

The two started arguing the previous night, according to the affidavit, and the argument continued Friday morning. The victim wouldn't explain what the argument was about.

While arguing in the bedroom, the victim said, Joy was seated on the bed. The victim reportedly walked next to her as he reached for a bottle of water on the night stand. When he did so, Joy allegedly kicked at him.

The victim told police he grabbed Joy's legs and threw them up onto the bed to get them away from him. This reportedly enraged Joy, who allegedly threw things from the night stand at the victim.

According to the affidavit, the victim told police he was walking out of the room when Joy allegedly jumped off the bed and quickly approached him with a long, silver knife-type object in her hand, "wildly swinging it around the room."

The victim reportedly moved to the doorway and reached in to close the door. At that point, Joy allegedly raised the knife over her head and brought it down into the back of the victim's left hand.

After he went into the bathroom to inspect the wound, the affidavit says, the victim learned that Joy had taken their car and left.

One child who was in the apartment reportedly told officers that Joy and the victim fight "all the time."

An officer called Joy's cell phone. The call immediately went to voicemail, court documents say.

Police later said Joy returned to the apartment Friday evening and started arguing with the victim. The victim reportedly called police, who came and arrested Joy in the parking lot of the apartment building.
