Police arrested a man late Friday after he allegedly sent his girlfriend's grandmother to the emergency room.

Marquise Demetry Benson, 28, was booked on a charge of aggravated assault and battery. Should he be formally charged and convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Charging documents say shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, a woman called police and said her boyfriend -- Benson -- had assaulted her grandmother.

The caller thought her grandmother's arm may have been broken, and said the victim was in a lot of pain.

While officers drove to the scene, Benson reportedly took off. An officer found Benson about a block away and asked him about the call.

Benson allegedly blamed the grandmother for "putting her nose" in his business and said she didn't like him because of the color of his skin. He also alleged that she punched him in the throat and face.

Officers did not find any sign of injury on Benson. A breath test showed Benson did not have any alcohol in his system, though he reportedly said he had a drink earlier in the evening.

An officer saw the victim's arm was "disfigured, possibly dislocated," and may have been broken at the elbow, according to an affidavit. The victim was taken by ambulance to an emergency room.

Both Benson's girlfriend and the victim told police Benson was the aggressor and had shoved the victim to the ground after a brief dispute about going to play bingo.

Benson was handcuffed and taken to the Natrona County Detention Center.
