Ben and Jerry’s Sues Adult Film Company for Ice Cream Parodies

A clever title can really make or break a pornography film (Haha, we called it a ‘film!’) Some of the best parody titles we’ve seen have been in the porn industry: ‘A Clockwork Orgy,’ ‘Flesh Gordon,’ ‘Good Will Humping,’ ‘Inspect Her Gadget’…Okay, we’ll stop. ‘The Sperminator?’

Rodax Distributors and Caballero Video aren’t laughing too hard this week, though. The two North Hollywood -based pornography companies are being sued by Ben & Jerry’s because of a series of titles that parody the beloved ice cream company. With X-rated titles like ‘Peanut Butter D-Cup,’ and our favorite, ‘Boston Cream Thigh,’ the titles also feature cover art and packaging that closely resemble the “far-out” brand identity of B&J’s, including a grazing cow and puffy white stoner clouds.

The suit asks for an unspecified amount in damages, and also requests delivery of all copies of the alleged copyright-infringing DVDs “for destruction.” We’re really hoping they make that a new stop on the factory tour – Maybe it’s time for some new headstones in the flavor graveyard?

This is making us a little nervous about the Robin Williams parody porn series we’ve been working on. It would be a real shame if ‘Snatch Adams’ and ‘Wet Dreams May Cum’ end up on the cutting room floor, though.
