Skate Name and Number: Minista of da Fist #187
Height: 5'2"
Date Joined: November 4, 2009
Position: Jammer, Blocker, Pivot
Favoite Target Zone: Shoulder
Likes: Love competing in anything. Frogs are the absolute "best" and green is my my favorite color. Skating is fantastic!
Dislikes: Brussel sprouts, lima beans, and mean people
Injuries: Sprained my ankle and a shoulder injury that is still healing. And my pride when we lose.
Why Roller Derby? An up and coming sport, on roller skates and a bunch of bad ass women competing? Who could say no? It is a very empowering sport, helps self esteem, over all heath and is just plain fun!
Words of Wisdom: Never say never, no matter what, always give it a try or two.
Skate Name and Number: Miss Meladjusted #9mm
Height: 5'8"
Date Joined: November2009
Position: Power Blocker
Favorite Target Zone: Anywhere, but mainly the shoulder
Likes: Chicken Alfredo, Shopping, and Reality TV
Dislikes: Green foods, smirking, and cooking
Injuries: None so far from derby
Why Roller Derby?: I love everything about it!! The challenge, the competition, the sisterhood, the exercise, everything. Plus it is a great way for me to let out all my frustrations.
Words of Wisdom: "Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation."
Skate Name: Welder Girl (Team Captain) #H1DN
Height: 5" 2"
Date Joined: November 2009
Position: I am lucky enough to have skated for a long time so I can play all positions for this great team, but primarily I am a Jammer.
Favorite Target Zone: Honestly I target the opponent hitting the floor!! I have been told that I give a mean hip check, but really I am pretty good at planning a hit so if I have the right timing and strategy you just better be ready to go down.
Likes: I like roller derby of course!!!! I also couldn’t make it through a day without my family and music. Music moves the soul and keeps me going every day. Movies, making money and just learning new things all the time are also things I like.
Dislikes: Oh this is going to be fun; I dislike stupid drivers, people that chomp their food at the movies, people that have a lot to say but can never back it up and of course people that lie.
Injuries: So far the only injuries I have had are a sprain jaw, and a cracked rib. Noting to extreme but the sprained jaw was a new one for me.
Why Roller Derby? I have never been an extremely athletic person nor have I ever really had high self-esteem, except when I was on skates. Skating was what I did all the time and I am good at it. So when someone approached me and said that I should do this, I took that as a hint someone thought I was good enough to excel. Hesitantly-I went for it. It is a truly amazing feeling to find something that makes you feel whole. I have found a sisterhood in roller derby that I don’t know existed. Roller derby- I think was meant to be in my life. When you feel like that you just have to go for it and give it everything you have to give!
Words of Wisdom: Always be true to yourself, do your best to live life with no regrets and remember- "In the end the Devil always gets what he deserves." Theory of a Deadman (Sacrifice)
