Remembering Dimebag Darrell: Buckcherry Marvel at Dimebag’s Guitar Chops
Dec. 8, 2014 marks the 10th anniversary of Pantera / Damageplan guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott‘s tragic death. In remembrance of the guitar great, we’ve spoken to rock and metal’s greatest musicians to gather stories and testimonies of admiration towards the immortal shredder.
In the video above, Buckcherry's founding members Josh Todd and Keith Nelson reflect on the legacy of Pantera and specifically guitarist Dimebag Darrell. And while they never had a chance to meet the rocker before his death, his influence was no less felt on the band.
Josh Todd speaks about Pantera's aggression being a big influence on his band, and he adds of Dime, "His guitar riffs were sick and he brought just an element to that band. There was a lot going on in that band that was great, but he was just a huge force."
Nelson also reveals that their love for Pantera also aided their own career as they chose producer Terry Date to work on one of their albums based on what he did with Pantera. Hear what both guys have to say in the video above and stay tuned for more Dimebag Darrell memories, coming from now through Dec. 8.
