A man accused of sex crimes against two children pleaded not guilty to the eight counts brought against him Thursday in Natrona County District Court.

Lenard WIlliam Smiley, 45, faces four counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, three counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree and one misdemeanor count of false imprisonment.

Smiley could face up to 126 years in prison and $71,000 in fines if convicted on all counts.

The state alleges that Smiley abused the victims from Jan. 1, 2015 through May 8, 2016.

Smiley is a registered sex offender. He was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree in Alaska in 2001.

Sonya Smiley, 50, was charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree and one count of accessory before the fact to sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree when she made her initial appearance in December.
