Starting on August 24, playing Powerball® and Mega Millions® won’t require a trip over state lines. In advance of that date however, there have been a couple of residents that picked up tickets in neighboring states that paid off big time!

Jesus A., a Cheyenne resident, won a Mega Millions jackpot of $1,994,548 in the Colorado Lottery on July 18, and Rickey T. from Greybull, recently won $10,004 South Dakota’s Powerball lottery.

Jon Clontz, the Wyoming Lottery's CEO said

“The exciting news is that a Wyoming resident went across the border to Colorado, bought a lottery ticket and won $1.9 million. That's pretty exciting to win that kind of money. But the real exciting news is that starting August 24, we'll be selling Powerball and Mega Millions tickets, so folks who live in Wyoming or even passing through can buy a ticket here and have the same exciting chance to win. So you don't have to go to Colorado anymore. Same is true with the person who won in South Dakota. You no longer have to travel across the border to play these games and have a chance to win.  You can play them right here in Wyoming and you can win in Wyoming.”

The official launch of Powerball and Mega Millions sales by the Wyoming Lottery is August 24. For more information about where tickets will be sold, visit www.wyolotto.com.
