US Postal Carriers in all across Wyoming will be collecting non-perishable food items this Saturday, May 13th, 2017 during the 25th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

This is our Nations largest one day food drive and last year carriers in Casper collected over 41,000 pounds of food, Cheyenne over 40,000 pounds and Laramie over 8,000 pounds. On this one day in America letter carriers collected over 80 million pounds of food for the hungry in communities all across the country.

The food drive is easy for anyone to participate. Letter Carriers will be delivering reminder post cards along with bag in the days leading up to the drive. Then on Saturday, May 13th residents simply place non-perishable food items in the recyclable bags provided, near their mailbox early on Saturday morning. Letter Carriers and their helpers (volunteers) will pickup the food and distribute to local food banks in each of their communities. All the food collected will stay in the community where it is collected!!

Letter Carriers in Laramie, Cheyenne, Sheridan, Rock Springs, Gillette, Casper, Evanston, Douglas, Rawlins, Kemmerer, Cody, Wheatland, Thermopolis, Powell, Riverton and Green River, all will be participating.

What types of food can you donate? The NALC asks that you check expiration dates on all donations, but anything non-perishable will be greatly appreciated.  Canned goods, peanut butter, canned meats, fruits, vegetables, pastas, cereals, or anything else to help make meals possible.
