Openly Gay Student’s Yearbook Photo Rejected for Worland High School Yearbook
Matt Jolley is a senior at Worland High School in Washakie County, Wyoming. He is 18 years old, loves photography and is openly gay. Because he chose to hold a rainbow flag in his senior picture, school officials won't let him use his portrait unless he pays for an advertisement. Jolley says, "It's not uncommon for students to take senior photos with props that symbolize who they are and what they care about. Athletes can wear their uniforms. Band members can hold their band instruments. So, why can't an openly gay senior be allowed to hold a rainbow flag?"
1/29 UPDATE: Worland officials have decided to allow the photo in the yearbook.
