Shifting winds and rugged terrain caused problems for firefighters battling a wildfire near Glenrock on Sunday. Converse County Emergency Management says they responded to the fire west of Glenrock on the south side of I-25 Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters from Glenrock, Converse County Rural Fire, the BLM, and the State Helitack Crew all worked on the fire, assisted by area ranchers, an industrial water tender shuttling water, and what they described as "a very hard working seismograph crew that was working in the area", according to their Facebook post.

The fire burned in thick sage and light flashy fuels, and officials say it was difficult to fight due to multiple wind shifts and some rugged terrain. Officials say they're looking at an electrical short on an oil field pump jack as a possible cause.

The fire was logged as burning 249 acres, all on State of Wyoming land. Although the fire damaged numerous power poles, no structures were damaged.
