Corey Taylor had an awesome rant about the relationship between Metal and Media. He basically says that the media only pulls out the negatives of heavy metal, but rarely (if ever) focuses on the many positives.

When I tell people that I work for an Active Rock station, I frequently get a "oh, you're one of THOSE" type of look. There's a pre-conceived notion that the average Rock listener is a drugged out, unemployed, drag on society. I tend to disagree. I meet listeners from all walks of life. Roughnecks, doctors, police officers, etc. Looking at this list, it seems that the people who are quick to judge us fans of the harder stuff are the ones who are a drag on society. What's that old saying about a book and it's cover?

Regardless of what you do, as long as you're working, you're alright in my book. Making money, spending it, and contributing to society. That sounds like a recipe for success, if I've ever heard one...

What do you do? Tell us your vocation in the comment section, and thanks for listening!
