We Are the Riot, ‘It’s Not What You Wanted’ – Exclusive Video Premiere
You may not know the name We Are the Riot yet, but you will, as the band includes two Coal Chamber members and an alum of Static-X frontman Wayne Static's band. The group is teaming with Loudwire to exclusively premiere their new video for 'It's Not What You Wanted' from their upcoming debut album.
The clip centers on an alien being as he lugs his way around a ravaged world, learning the demons of the band members along the way. Director Brian Cox makes great use of the Salton Sea set, with the dried out desert area delivering that perfect post-apocalyptic vibe.
We Are the Riot features frontman Jimmy Trigger along with Coal Chamber guitarist Meegs Rascon and drummer Mikey Cox. Andy "The Kid" Cole from Static-X and Wayne Static's solo band plays bass, while guitarist Cheyne Fritz rounds out the group.
Rascon tells Loudwire, "The video was such a collaborative and exciting adventure for WATR and director Brian Cox. The Salton Sea is visually stunning, so capturing the essence of that in the video with our performance was just plain out awesome! The hard work was definitely worth it." Frontman Jimmy Trigger adds of the track, "The song is about wanting everything when you need nothing but yourself to succeed. Simply put. #BelieveInYou."
Bassist Andy the Kid chips in, "Producer Brian Cox at Digital Iris did an AMAZING job of the video and we're all extremely proud of the result. It conveys the energy and emotion that is We Are the Riot. There is insight into each band member in the video and I feel like many people will be able to relate to our personal struggles and triumphs," while Mikey Cox explains, "'It's Not What You Wanted' for me is about confronting your demons, conquering them and moving forward! Believing in yourself is the only way to achieve this! This video was a complete exorcism for me and Brian Cox captured it brilliantly!"
The band formed in 2010 and they've been getting the current lineup ready to make their mark upon the music scene. The band is in the process of working on a full-length album, with 'It's Not What You Wanted' serving as their introductory track for most new fans. They just played a special gig at West Hollywood's Viper Room in California this past week and opened for Wayne Static on his 'Wisconsin Death Trip' trek this past spring.
