Most of the time, giving little kids a huge scare is a kind of a rotten thing to do. Kids already have enough to be scared of (monsters, mean teachers, the dark, etc.), but late October is not most of the time. It's Halloween-time, the perfect forum to remind kids that there's no such thing as free lunch—or, in this case, free candy.
