The Wyoming Game and Fish Department and Natrona County Sheriff’s Office are  investigating a vandalism case on lands enrolled in the "Access Yes" program, known as the Muddy Mountain Hunter Management Area.

The owners of Miles Land and Livestock Company reported on October 26th, gates were left open, fences cut, and other equipment and property were damaged and destroyed. Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Aaron Shatto learned the family often stayed there, and said he felt they were fortunate that no one was injured when rounds were fired into the cabin.

Game and Fish Casper Region Wildlife Supervisor Brian Olsen says “The access this land provides hunters is critical to the management of the Muddy Mountain elk herd. The landowner has provided access to hunters for years, and we will do whatever we can to help find who did this to their property. While we know hunters are not responsible for these actions, we do know that many hunters use this area and may be able to help.”

Anyone who has information regarding this incident or any other illegal activity while hunting on private lands is encouraged to notify the Game and Fish at (307)473-3400 or the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office at (307)235-9282. Tips can also be made to the Stop Poaching Tip Line at 1-877-WGFD-TIP or on the Game and Fish website at wgfd.wyo.gov.
