A Utah woman who was a passenger in a pickup died in a crash on Interstate 80 east of Evanston early Wednesday, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol on Friday.

The Highway Patrol arrested the driver of the pickup on several charges, Patrol Lt. David Wagener wrote.

Danielle Hanna, 26, of West Valley, Utah, was the passenger in a pickup driven by Joshua Pierce, 36, of Green River, Wyo.

The pickup was traveling east on I-80 about five miles east of Evanston.

At 3:50 a.m., the pickup drove on a slick spot, began to spin, entered the median, and tripped and rolled after hitting packed snow and the median guardrail.
Danielle Hanna was not wearing her seat belt, was ejected, and died at the scene.
Pierce was taken by ground ambulance to Evanston Regional Hospital, treated and released.

Troopers arrested Pierce and charged him with felonious impaired driving, driving while suspended, and interference with a peace officer. He was booked in at the Uinta County Detention Center in Evanston.

The Highway Patrol is investigating impaired driving and road conditions as the contributing factors in this crash that marked the ninth highway fatality in Wyoming for 2017. There were six fatalities during this same time in 2016.
