Here is an official Casper government update to the city's ban on lawn watering due to the failure of the city water purification system. This may answer some questions raised by our readers and listeners.

"In addition to the parks and fields listed below, the Casper Events Center, Fort Caspar, Paradise Valley Park, and all athletic fields (with the exception of Washington Park) are NOT on the City’s finished water system. Rather, they draw water from the river to holding tanks that are used for irrigation. Therefore, some of these parks and fields may continue to be watered.

You may see the soccer fields, Field of Dreams, North Casper Softball Fields, and Wells Park being irrigated. Again, these fields are NOT on the City’s finished water system. They are using raw water from the river to irrigate.

Also, this mandatory irrigation ban and request for water conservation is for fire-flow protection."
