Two Arizona residents appeared in Natrona County Circuit Court on Thursday and admitted that they set out on a road trip to Casper with two children in the trunk of their car earlier this week.

Michael Fee, 63, and 31-year-old Amber Freudenstein each pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment during their initial court appearances before Circuit Judge Steven Brown.

"We traveled up here and didn't have room for everybody in the car," Fee told Brown. "I tried to make things as safe as I could for them. They were in the trunk of my car."

Fee added that one child rode halfway to Casper inside the trunk.

"We were just trying to get here to see her other children," Fee continued. "There was nothing malicious."

Brown, at the prosecution's recommendation, sentenced each Fee and Freudenstein to 30 days in jail.

"It's not what I want to ask for, judge," the prosecuting attorney said. "Because he lives out of state, there's no point in putting him on probation at this time."

"I'm just grateful that nothing happened," Fee told Brown. "Nothing disastrous or anything."
