On one instance, investigators searched the defendant's residence in Bar Nunn and found about 1,900 fentanyl pills, 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, 1.8 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, and $2,980. Later, on a different day, they found 19.7 grams of meth and about 680 fentanyl pills.
The case started on Dec. 3 when a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper attempted to pull over a pickup speeding southbound on Interstate 25 in Laramie County.
The federal case, and facts stated by Harkins during his pleas Wednesday, arose from a local investigation based on tips that he was using and selling illegal drugs at his home.
In March 2022, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation opened an investigation into the suspected use and distribution of illicit controlled substances in Natrona County.
