The cover song is a big part of many band's repertoire and Shinedown's Brent Smith and Zach Myers recently teamed up to lay down several acoustic covers of their favorite songs. The result is a new EP titled '(ACOUSTIC SESSIONS)' that will be released under the moniker Smith + Myers via iTunes and at all digital retailers on Jan. 28.

You wouldn't know it by looking at him today, but there was a period not too long ago that Shinedown singer Brent Smith was struggling with both drug and alcohol addiction, as well as weight issues. Part of the reason Smith is built as well as he is these days is due to his newfound commitment to his health, and he discussed his transformation with the Los Angeles Times.

Musicians have to get their inspiration from somewhere, and Shinedown singer Brent Smith says he owes a debt of gratitude to the ’70s television series ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ and the singer of the show’s theme song, Waylon Jennings, for putting him on the path to music.

Shinedown’s Brent Smith recently issued a 911 call to music fans on Twitter regarding the sad state of rock music and his hopes for a rock ‘n’ roll revolution in 2012.
