Survey Reveals Distracted Driving Is Still a Major (And Rapidly Growing) Problem

While we are all aware of the dangers of distracted driving, a new survey has found that we’re not doing much to combat it. A total of 24% of drivers admit to checking the Internet on their phone while driving – a stark increase from the 13% in 2009.

Despite the growing number of people using phones while on the roads, popular opinion dictates we want a crackdown on it. Seventy-four percent say they support laws banning texting or emailing while driving.

Only about 50% think those laws are effectively enforced, though. To that end, 44% say they are very much behind the idea of technology that would preclude them from texting or emailing on their phones while driving.
