Surdam Throws Hat in Cheyenne Mayoral Ring
The leader of one of Cheyenne's economic development organizations wants to be mayor.
Surrounded by family, friends and supporters, Amy Surdam announced her candidacy for Cheyenne mayor this afternoon.
"I love this community," said Surdam. "I really feel a passion for this community and a drive to making it the best it can be."
She says economic development and downtown revitalization will continue to be top priorities should she be elected.
"We have the opportunity to move our community into the future with flexible thinking and creativity and I want to be a part of that," said Surdam.
Surdam is the first mayoral candidate to throw her hat in the ring.
Mayor Rick Kaysen, who was first elected in 2008, says he's "still pondering" whether to run for a third term.
"I've given myself a deadline of next month sometime," said Kaysen.
