Steven Adler Back in Studio With Self-Titled Band

Earlier this fall, drummer Steven Adler revealed that he was nine months sober and was looking to resume his music career in 2015. It now appears that Adler has gotten a jump start on his return, hitting the studio with the bandmates of his self-titled group.

The news of the studio sessions actually came from a couple of sources other than Adler. Jeff Pilson, best known for his work with Dokken and Foreigner, has reportedly signed on to produce the new Adler disc and he told 'The Double Stop' podcast earlier this month that work had begun on the album. "Steven started recording today," Pilson stated. "We recorded the first tune today. I don't know if we're gonna do a whole record. I think we're gonna do just a couple of songs, because it's kind of like, why bother doing a whole record these days? But his juices are flowing, so we started in on that today, and that's gonna be great." You can hear Pilson's full interview with 'The Double Stop' in the player below.

The other indication that things have resumed for Adler is a tweet from the band's vocalist Jacob Bunton, who posted the following message:

The band Adler released the 'Back From the Dead' album in November 2012, but promotion of the disc was cut short when the drummer canceled his summer 2013 and checked into rehab. The former Guns N' Roses musician's battles with addiction have been well documented as he's appeared on 'Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew' and 'Sober House' while attempting to kick his habits.

While there is progress being made on new music, no official details on a release or song titles have been revealed.
