It might not be long before fans get a new studio album from Soundgarden. The reunited rockers have been working together during recent months, according to a post on the band’s official website. The post also featured a photo showing the guys playing together in the studio.

“Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together – exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden,” the band wrote. “It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!”

Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd reformed Soundgarden in 2010, following a hiatus of 13 years, and went on tour. The band released a greatest hits collection, Telephantasm, last fall and is putting out a live album, Live on I5, on March 22. A new studio album would be the band’s first since 1996’s Down on the Upside. (via Gibson)
