How times have changed. When I was a kid, we took trips to places like the zoo and museum...An elementary school in Virginia is apparently taking students on a field trip...to the grand opening of a Super Walmart. Even weirder, the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students of Clearbrook Elementary School will be singing the national anthem at said grand opening. The opening of a Walmart warrants a field trip and the singing of the national anthem? Wow, this town must not have much going on. “Performance is a form of learning,” said Principal Karen Pendleton, perhaps in an effort to defend the decision. “It’s an experience form of field trip.” Will they at least get a discount?
