One person was arrested and a student was treated for minor injuries after an SUV struck a school bus in Sheridan on Thursday.

A 35-year-old woman was cited for careless driving as well as hit and run, according to Lt. Travis Koltiska of the Sheridan Police Department. The student was treated and released from Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

At 7:43 a.m., an orange SUV hit a school bus, colliding with a rear quarter panel of the bus. The driver of the SUV left the scene and continued for roughly two blocks before her vehicle became disabled; she then left the area on foot, Koltiska told K2 Radio News on Thursday.

Officers responded to the area, located the woman and cited her for the misdemeanor crimes after determining that she was not impaired.

The woman who was driving the SUV will make her initial appearance in Sheridan Municipal Court on April 22.
