Nonpoint Unveil ‘Breaking Skin’ Video
The catchiness of the song is in stark contrast to the plot of the video, which in addition to featuring footage of the band performing, offers a look at the perils of drug abuse.
“It’s about addiction, whether it be food, drugs, sex, lying, or anything,” vocalist Elias Soriano says of the song. “That tends to turn into an itch. You can’t stop scratching it so you break skin. Then, you’re bleeding. You need to get help at that point and deal with it.”
Adds drummer Robb Rivera, “'Breaking Skin’ is a different kind of song for us. There’s a lot of melody, but it’s still so heavy. That heaviness has always been in the back of our minds. It’s a natural direction for us. Most bands soften their sound as they go on. We get more aggressive and heavy. That’s what Nonpoint does best.”
Nonpoint are currently on tour, wrapping up with a spot on the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 4. After a couple weeks off, they get back on the road with Gemini Syndrome, Islander and 3 Years Hollow beginning Oct. 23 in Indianapolis. Pick up Nonpoint's new album, 'The Return,' at iTunes.
