No Doubt Announce Release Date for First Album in 10 Years
No Doubt have announced a Sept. 25 release date for their long-awaited sixth album and first since ‘Rock Steady’ dropped in 2001. The band revealed their plans for the as-yet-untitled disc with a post on their official website and a video clip on YouTube, which you can watch below. “We are incredibly excited to share the new music with you,” reads the post. “Ear candy coming your way!”
No Doubt began recording the new album in 2008 without singer Gwen Stefani, who was on the road promoting her second solo disc, ‘The Sweet Escape,’ and continued as a full band upon her return later that year. Progress was slowed, however, when Stefani became pregnant with her second child that same year, and by a lengthy 2009 No Doubt comeback tour that touched down in dozens of North American cities over the course of three months.
“We’re really proud of our new album and we hope you love it as much as we do,” the band continues in the note. “We’ll be posting a lot of updates between now and September as we shoot the video and start rehearsing to perform the new songs live for all of you.” The disc was produced by Mark “Spike” Stent, who also worked with No Doubt on ‘Rock Steady.’
