Natrona County Businesses Pass Tobacco Compliance Check
The Natrona County Sheriff's Office conducted tobacco compliance checks throughout the county on Saturday, and all eight local establishments visited did not sell tobacco products to minors.
Such inspections usually involve a trained 16- or 17-year-old walking into a retailer and requesting a certain brand of cigarette or smokeless tobacco.
These are the businesses that passed the most recent round of inspections in Natrona County:
- Sloanes General Store
- Alcova Marina
- Pathfinder Marina
- Natrona County International Airport
- Ghost Town Truck Stop
- Loaf N Jug, Bar Nunn
- Big D Truck Stop
- Hiland Bright Spot
It's good news in light of the 2017 Synar Report draft released in early December, which put noncompliance rates among Wyoming retailers at 12 percent.
That was nearly triple the 4.2-percent rate cited in the previous year's report, but still nowhere near the national target rate of 20 percent at most.
Rachel Nuss, block grant coordinator for the Wyoming Department of Health, said of the change: "We're not really sure why we've seen this increase, but it's something that we will investigate."
