The search for the missing hunter is over. The Teton County sheriff's office issued this release today...

Jackson, WY-September 29, 2015, 1:00pm-Teton County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (TCSAR) report that they have found the remains of Bernard Rietmann.

Search teams found Mr. Rietmann at approximately 11:45am, in the Boulder Creek area of the Gros Ventre Wilderness. Boulder Creek is a tributary of the Little Granite Creek drainage. Mr. Rietmann's remains will be released to the Teton County Coroner's Office. Teton County Sheriff's Deputies will conduct an investigation of the area where Mr. Rietmann's remains were found.

The discovery of Mr. Rietmann was the result of finding what was believed to be his rifle. The sheriff's office received information at around 9:30am from a hunter stating he found a rifle in the Boulder Creek drainage on Monday. The hunter, who lives in Green River, Wyoming, stated he was hunting in Boulder Creek when he found the rifle. He was unaware of the on-going search and ended up taking the rifle to his home. He later found out about the search and contacted the sheriff's office. He was able to provide GPS coordinates of where he found the rifle. Search teams were immediately diverted to that area and discovered Mr. Rietmann.
