The man wanted for a hit-and-run accident with a cyclist two weeks ago was arrested Tuesday for shoplifting and trespassing at the Walmart in east Casper, according to the Casper Police Department.

Michael Allen Carpenter, 25, allegedly was driving a pickup on May 29 when he struck the cyclist at North Beverly and Yellowstone streets and then fled on foot, according to police.

However, it is doubtful that Carpenter will be making his initial appearance today to hear the accident-related charges in Natrona County Circuit Court.

He still has posts on his Facebook page where he repeatedly asserts his innocence: "If u 2 were real like u said u were u wouldn't lie about what happened and get a homeboy in a lot of trouble for something u did that's some punk s--t and I don't deserve anything that is going on u know u did that s--t I wanted dropped off and no where in ur destructive path.so u better come forward and admit the truth it's ur charges not mine so be down and real like u said u guys were my fingerprints ain't even in the driver spot...."

The police will release additional information when it becomes available.

The Casper Police Department would like to thank all the citizens of Casper who provided information regarding Carpenters location," according to the news release.
