Multi-award winning director Darren Aronofsky has signed on to direct the video for ‘Iced Honey,’ the second single from Metallica and Lou Reed‘s ‘Lulu’ collaboration. Aronofsky had directed some of cinema’s most celebrated films such as ‘Black Swan,’ ‘The Fountain’ and ‘Requiem for a Dream.’

The video for the new Loutallica single will be performance-based with scenes shot in the San Francisco Bay area. Aronofsky’s longtime film partner Matthew Libatique, who was the director of photography for films such as ‘Black Swan,’ ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Requiem for a Dream,’ will serve as the DP and cameraman for the ‘Iced Honey’ video.

Both Lou Reed & Metallica have expressed their excitement for the upcoming video shoot, I have loved Darren Aronofsky since he did ‘Pi’,” said Lou Reed. “I hope I can be his next Black Swan.” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich referred to the opportunity to work with Aronofsky as a dream come true. “As if making a record with Lou Reed is not enough, now I get to make a video with Darren Aronofsky, who has been among my very favorite filmmakers since his first movie, “Pi,” raved Ulrich.

‘Lulu’ has been met with both rave reviews and fierce criticism from fans and reviewers alike. The New York Times called the album “a set of wrenching, astonishingly profane songs,” while Blabbermouth wrote “poorly conceived” may not do justice to how horrendously this has turned out.”

Darren Aronofsky’s video for ‘Iced Honey’ is set to be finished and released to the masses by the end of November.
