Labor Secretary Acosta, Senator Enzi Tour Sites Around Wyoming

It was a whirlwind tour. Wyoming's senior U.S. Senator Mike Enzi hosted U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta in Wyoming this week, making stops at several events focused on workforce development and mining production, according to a release from Enzi's office.

Enzi and Acosta started the visit March 18th with a tour of the North Antelope Rochelle Mine in Campbell County. The next stop was in Casper, for a tour of the Wyoming Contractors Association’s (WCA) Regional Training Center.

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon joined Enzi and Acosta on Tuesday to visit the Wind River Job Corps Center in Riverton, and later that day Enzi and Acosta traveled to Green River to tour the trona mine Genesis Alkali.

“It was wonderful to welcome Secretary Acosta to Wyoming and show him two different types of mining and some of our important workforce education facilities,” Enzi said. “It is a unique opportunity to have a cabinet member spend so much time and travel so many miles from one corner of the state to the other. I look forward to continuing to work with the administration to implement policies that support and promote jobs in Wyoming and across the country.”

Acosta thanked Enzi for the first-hand look at Wyoming's mining industry and workforce development programs. “This Administration is committed to strengthening the American workforce," Acosta said, "which includes keeping miners safe and supporting workforce development initiatives that help American job seekers learn work-based skills and obtain good, family-sustaining careers.”
