After less than three hours of deliberation, a jury found Clint Webb not guilty of assaulting a sheriff's deputy, according to the verdict read in Natrona County District Court today.

Webb, who was convicted in late July for trying to kill his wife, was charged with a felony of causing bodily injury to a peace peace officer on Oct. 30, 2014. That charge included a lesser count of interference.

On that date, his defense attorneys filed a motion for a mental evaluation in the attempted second-degree murder case.

Webb strongly objected to Circuit Court Judge Brian Christensen, saying his attorneys weren't doing a good job defending him.

Christensen told Webb they were done and a deputy escorted him from the courtroom.

Outside the courtroom, Webb told the deputy "this is f---g b----t" and leaned into him, causing him to raise his hands to push Webb away. Webb then attempted to head-butt the deputy, according to court records.

After a struggle, they landed on the floor. Other deputies came to assist.

The escorting deputy asked Webb why he did it. Webb first blamed the deputy for causing it, and then apologized.

The deputy was treated for minor injuries, according to court records.

On Thursday, the jury agreed with Webb and his defense team after a three-day trial before District Court Judge Daniel Forgey.

After the verdict was read, Webb's public defender Devon Petersen said Webb had insisted on his innocence, but couldn't point to any specific defense that overrode the deputy's assertions.
