Joe Tiller’s Five Best Moments As Wyoming Football Coach
It was recently revealed that former Wyoming coach Joe Tiller, now age 75, is seriously sick. [Editor's Note: The Tiller family has refuted claims as reported by CBS that Joe has Cancer. They have reached out and will release a statement soon] Football fans all over the country will be praying for his recovery, especially here in the Cowboy State.
Here's a look back at the five best moments during Joe Tiller's six seasons at the helm of the Pokes football program.
5. October 30, 1993 - Even today it’s good to be home at “The War” when playing Fresno State. The Bulldogs were tough in 1993, but Joe’s Cowboys pulled off a 32-28 win.
4. December 7, 1996 - It was the ’96 WAC Championship Game. The 25-28 loss was hard, but the Pokes held their heads high after forcing 6th ranked BYU into overtime. What a game.
3. November 27, 1993 - At San Diego State on the last game of an 8-4 season, Wyoming came from behind to pull out a 43-38 thriller.
2.September 7, 1996 - Early in that great 10-2 season, the Pokes proved their were for real, beating Iowa State on the road in OT, 41-38.
1. November 16, 1996 - After 9 straight wins, the season’s first loss came the week before. We weren’t letting that happen again, especially against CSU in Fort Collins. Wyoming rallied late in the 4th quarter to win the Border War and claim the Bronze Boot, 25-24.
Godspeed, Coach.
