Man Killed in I-25 Crash in Wyoming During Easter Snowstorm
A man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Johnson County, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
The crash happened around 11:05 p.m. on Easter Sunday, March 31, at milepost 261.5 on Interstate 25, about 7.5 miles north of Kaycee.
Man Dead After Pickup Driver Loses Control on Icy Bridge in Wyoming
According to a fatality crash summary, the driver of a Mazda B4000 and their passenger, 52-year-old Nevada resident Brian Cota, were traveling northbound, when they entered a snowstorm, crossed an icy bridge deck, and went into the median.
The driver reportedly steered hard to the right in an attempt to bring the pickup back onto the interstate, and the pickup began to rotate clockwise and entered a broadside driver-side leading slide as it entered back onto the interstate.
The pickup then tripped and rolled approximately 2.5 times.
Cota was not wearing his seat belt and died from his injuries. The driver was not injured in the crash.
Speed is listed as a possible contributing factor.
Cota is the 16th reported person to die on Wyoming's highways so far this year.
