Cheyenne Police Release Video of Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

The Cheyenne Police Department has released video from last month's deadly shootout in northwest Cheyenne.

The shooting took place on Friday, March 8 at a home in the 5200 block of Fishing Bridge.

According to Public Information Officer Alex Farkas, officers were dispatched at 6:18 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance with a firearm at the home.

Farkas says dispatch relayed that the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Cheyenne resident Patrick Flores, was shooting the firearm and his wife was heard screaming.

"Responding officers approached the front door and made multiple announcements, commanding the occupants to exit, but there was no response," said Farkas. "A woman screamed from inside and officers breached the front door."

"As officers entered, they encountered Flores who was shooting his weapon and returned fire," she added.

Farkas says officers determined Flores and the woman were in an upstairs bedroom and attempted to communicate with Flores from the floor below, repeatedly asking him to let the woman come downstairs, but he refused to release her.

"At the same time, officers could hear the woman yelling for help and glass breaking," she said.

Farkas says after several minutes of negotiating, Flores pointed his weapon in the direction of the woman and officers fired at him.

She says a handgun was recovered next to Flores, who was declared dead at the scene.

Per the CPD's policies, the case was turned over to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, a third-party state agency, to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation, which remains ongoing, and the three officers involved were placed on administrative leave.
